Caleb LaRueMy name is Caleb LaRue and I am thrilled to be working with students, faculty and staff at Union College.  I studied undergrad at the University of Virginia, where I met my wife, Bet.  Although my degree is in Religious Studies (focusing on animism in sub-Saharan Africa), I spent the majority of my time in college in Biochemistry.  I am a very curious person!  As a student, I was involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF), where I was grown a great deal, both spiritually and personally.  After college, we married and started a family (we have five children), and I worked in resort hotel management.  After about five years, I apprenticed as a wallpaper installer and began a very different career.  In 1989 we moved to Philadelphia, where I received my M. Div. from Westminster Theological Seminary.  I took a call to a small Presbyterian congregation in Warren County, where I served for three years.  During seminary, the pastorate, and the intervening years, I have operated a paint and wallpaper business.  It has been a great counter-experience to the path of higher education, enriching my life and heart in many ways.  I have closed the business and am working full-time with IVCF, splitting time with Skidmore College, where I’ve been serving for four years on a part-time basis.  I love students, and I love the campus.  My work on campus is about establishing and growing a witnessing community:  people who follow Jesus Christ, and who love the campus, and seek to bless every aspect of the college’s life.
