What is an RA?

Being a Resident Advisor (RA) is not only a fun experience, it’s an opportunity to be a positive role model and a student leader with students living in your residence hall. The RA position is an opportunity to learn essential skills and responsibilities that will be valuable in your education and in your professional career. RA’s are key student leaders who help advance the mission of the Office of Residential Life in the areas of personal development, student learning outside the classroom, global responsibility, leadership, and engagement and service to the community.

RA Selection is an exciting time for the Office of Residential Life as we get to meet and get to know the new leaders of our student staff! The RA Selection process takes place during the Winter term of the academic year prior to the start of employment. Each of Union’s 6 Residence Halls (College Park Hall, Davidson, Fox, Richmond, Webster, and West) seeks talented and motivated individuals to serve as RA’s.

Monday, January 7 (Week 1)

RA Job Application available at the Residential Life Office.

Tuesday, January 22, 1:00pm (Week 3)

RA Information Session in Reamer Auditorium

Tuesday, January 22, 6:00pm (Week 3)

RA Information Session in Reamer Auditorium

Monday, January 28, 5:00pm (Week 4)

New RA Applications due to the Office of Residential Life.

Wednesday, February 6, 6:00pm (Week 5)

Social Mixer at Old Chapel.

Sunday, February 10, 10:00am or 1:00pm (Week 5)

Group Process Day at College Park Hall.

Sunday, February 17 (Week 6)

RA Interview Day at College Park Hall.

Wednesday, February 27 (Week 8)

RA Offers will be sent to candidates.

Friday, March 8, 5:00pm (Week 9)

RA Candidate Accept/Decline due to the Residential Life Office.

 

To get a better sense of the RA position, we encourage you to talk with current RA’s and the Residence Directors, attend programs in the residence halls, and become more active and involved on your floor or in your building. You will be very prepared and feel more confident as you go through the selection process.
