2005-2006 Capital Fellowship Program

 

The Capital Fellows Programs (Assembly, Executive, Judicial Administration and Senate Fellowship Programs) are nationally recognized public policy fellowships offering college graduates unique experiences in policy-making and development with California state government.  Fellows work as full-time, paid policy assistants to senior executive branch staff, judicial administration officials, members of the California Assembly and Senate, legislative committees, and other top ranking government officials.  Fellows help draft and analyze legislation, answer constituent inquiries, write speeches, conduct policy briefings, and work with court project development and implementation.  Fellows gain first-hand experience in governing the most diverse state in the nation and a sense of personal involvement in the leadership of California society. 

 

Who Can Apply:

The program welcomes applications from graduates of a four-year college or university and who is authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of the program.

 

Stipend:

Fellows receive monthly stipends as well as medical, vision and dental benefits. The current monthly stipend is $1,972. 

 

Application Process and deadline:

Each of the four programs requires a separate application. Individuals are invited to apply to one or more of the programs as interested.  Applications in each program require personal and professional essays, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.  Prospective Capital Fellows must complete application forms and submit the required information by February each year.
