The Correlation of Ovid's Metamorphoses and Greek Perspectives

Abstract

My project examines some various types of metamorphoses found in Ovid. I am attempting to explain the reasoning behind the changes and their relationship to some common beliefs in ancient Greek society. There is a striking pattern found in the metamorphoses that spans the majority of the stories. These patterns, however, reflect common ideas held by the ancient Greeks and the main purpose of this project is to expand on this theory.
