Project Description:
My summer research project, "Tour Guides as Cultural Mediators," served as the initial organization of a book Professor Sharon Gmelch plans to write about tour guides and their role as mediators between the tourists they service and their own countries and cultures. This work included compiling twenty-seven audio taped interviews with tour guides from Cambodia, India, Peru, Tasmania, America, and Vietnam as written transcriptions. Once all of the written transcriptions had been arranged, I edited the transcripts for basic grammar and English language problems. I also indexed and reorganized the documents by topic to create clear and comprehensive narratives.
