McDowell earns 25 Year Award from CoSIDA

TAMPA, Fla. – Union College Sports Information Director Eric McDowell was awarded the 25 Year Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for a quarter century of service to the sports information profession Wednesday at the group’s annual convention. One of only 20 national honorees, McDowell was presented his award by CoSIDA President Charles Bloom of the Southeastern Conference at the CoSIDA Awards Luncheon at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.

Jessica Critchlow led Union to a #5 final ranking in the final IWLCA poll.
SCHENECTADY, NY -- The IWLCA recognized 13 coaches for their work during the 2008 season as the organization announced the National and Regional Coach of the Year awards. Union’s Jessica Critchlow was named the Berkshires Region Coach of the Year. The Union College women's lacrosse team, which reached the NCAA Division III regional finals for only the second time in program history, was ranked fifth in the final IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association) national poll.
 


Men's hockey adds seven for 2008-09

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union College head men’s hockey coach Nate Leaman has announced the addition of six freshmen and one transfer student to the 2008-09 team. The group includes three forwards, three defensemen and a goaltender. Five skaters hail from Canada, one from the United States, and one from Sweden, the first Swede and third European to join Union’s Division I ranks.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Union College head men’s hockey coach Nate Leaman has been named an assistant coach of the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete at the 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2008 – Jan. 5, 2009, in Ottawa, Ontario, it was announced today by USA Hockey. Leaman will join head coach Ron Rolston, assistant coach P.K. O’Handley and goalie coach Jeff Blashill.
