Union College in the Community
Union College is a national leader in successfully integrating a college into its surrounding community. We are deeply committed to the Schenectady community, and we take particular pride in:
- Our Big Brothers and Big Sisters program: a Union student was recently named "Big Sister of the Year"
- Our investments in the Park Place neighborhood, which have become a national model for neighborhood revitalization
- The Kenney Community Center, which provides a variety of programs for children and residents of College Park.
In recognition of National Mentoring Month, the Schenectady City Council honored Kenney Community Center mentors in January 2006 for 'outstanding service and commitment to furthering opportunities for mentoring the city's youth.'.
