Learning at the Intersections
The 35,000-square-foot Peter Irving Wold Center is the latest addition Union's historic campus and a symbol of the College's innovative role in defining the liberal arts. With its emphasis on interdisciplinary study and on the intersections between science, engineering, arts, social sciences and humanities, the Wold Center is a true microcosm of Union College as a whole.
Features of the new building include state-of-the-art laboratories, electronic classrooms, an advanced computing lab, study spaces and faculty offices. The Center's public spaces are intended to facilitate the free flow of people and ideas, promote collaboration among disciplines and blur the distinctions between teaching and research.
The Wold Center is also designed to achieve LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, consistent with Union's strong commitment to sustainability and to minimizing our carbon footprint.
