Diane Blake has more than 35 years of experience working in higher education finance, including the last 26 years at Union College. Since 1997, she has been vice president of finance and administration, overseeing an annual budget of $150 million and monitoring the College’s $400 million endowment. She is responsible for a combined staff of 150 employees in Finance, Human Resources, Facilities Management, Conferencing, Safety and Environmental Compliance, the Bookstore and the Mailroom and its printing services, and for financial oversight of Dining Services. She reports to the President and serves on four Board of Trustee Committees (Administration and Finance, Audit, Investment, and Facilities and Environment), the Planning and Priorities Committee, Faculty Benefits Committee and Facilities Liaison Committee.
During her time at Union, she has been responsible for strategic financial and facilities planning projects that have received national acclaim. She oversaw a plan to acquire and renovate 45 homes along the western edge of campus for student housing, establishing a neighborhood outreach center, satellite security office and creating an attractive mortgage program for employees. She also led the College’s purchase and renovation of a hotel, on a former brownfield site, into a residence hall and conference facility, a project that has spawned redevelopment efforts by the City of Schenectady and local developers.
She has served on the board of directors of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Administrators (EACUBO), the Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce and treasurer of the Schenectady County United Way.
In her time at Union, she has worked for three presidents. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Siena College.
