Individual consultations are available with the Director of Academic Achievement to help students develop a plan for success and provide support as they work towards their goals. In addition, we offer academic coaching and study skills development through peer mentoring.
These programs offer opportunities for enrollment at Union to a select group of talented students in need of educational and financial assistance. Participating students receive personalized academic and social support during their college experience. Both AOP and HEOP have a long and proud tradition of scholarship and academic excellence at the College.
Advising at Union engages students in an interactive process with a faculty member to assist them in making informed choices that maximize the benefits of a liberal arts education. It has a developmental component requiring different approaches with students at different times in their academic careers. We believe a good adviser helps teach students independence, and we want you to feel confident and excited about your academic decisions.
Our Common Curriculum provides the breadth that defines a liberal arts education through requirements in linguistic and cultural competency, quantitative reasoning, and science and technology. The curriculum is designed to enable students to become lifelong learners by learning to analyze, synthesize, integrate and communicate effectively.
The first-year preceptorial, or "precept," emphasizes critical reading and thinking skills, writing, speaking and cultural diversity. All first-year students will take a precept course when they come to Union.
This program assists students interested in pursuing a career in a health-related profession after graduation. Students receive information on the diverse career options available in the healthcare field and are advised on the preparation of a competitive applicant portfolio and on all aspects of the application process.
ITS provides technology services and resources for students, faculty, and staff. The team's primary objective is to provide high-quality support services that meet the pedagogical, business and research needs of the Union community.

The Union registrar ensures the integrity, accuracy and security of student academic records in compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations. The office provides services related to course information, student enrollment, registration, grade reporting, graduation and academic certification of current and former students.
With more than 750,000 volumes and a Special Collections section housing some of the College's most impressive and historic treasures, Schaffer Library is the first stop for students conducting research, meeting with study groups and preparing for courses.
The Writing Center offers assistance at all stages of the writing process through one-to-one tutoring and conferences. The Center assists everyone from first-year students writing their first college papers to seniors working on theses or applying to graduate schools.
This program offers select students (selected at the time of admission to Union) an opportunity to take additional classes and smaller, more intensive classes. Union Scholars in good standing may take a fourth course at no extra cost in any term except their first term at Union, and are allowed to graduate from Union in less than 12 terms if they meet all the program requirements. The program also offers social and intellectual events throughout the year especially for Union Scholars.
