You cannot help but explore the breadth of human knowledge throughout your time at Union College; the liberal arts are who we are. The creative impulse energizes the liberal arts at Union and our Common Curriculum. You will find yourself and your voice in the creative expressions found in a humanities course. In the tradition of Union’s unique history of embracing science and engineering as liberal arts, you also explore creativity at work in a science, engineering, and technology course. In a social sciences course you confront the complexity of our world by analyzing the societies we create.
These first journeys into the liberal arts soon become just the first of many. Through them, we meet the challenge posed by the great Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe, who wrote that "having an expert among us does not absolve the rest of us from thinking."
