Why did you choose Union?
My college search was a fun but challenging process. Financial aid and a liberal arts curriculum were my top priorities when searching for a college. I was aiming for a close-knit community with a low faculty:student ratio, which I believe provides the best learning and an opportunity to connect well with professors. The campus and the surrounding areas also attracted me to Union. Now as a Senior, I realize how Union provides an opportunity to play sports at a Division III level; Men’s Varsity Crew would not have been a possibility without Union’s close-knit and work hard play hard culture!

I still remember it to be one of the happiest days of my life when I received my acceptance from Union.

How do you describe Union to your friends and family?
Union is a second home and a training ground for me all in one. When my friends and family ask me: “Would you still decide to become a part of Union’s community if you were to rewind time?” My answer is “Absolutely!” The opportunities I received at Union are outstanding for me. From research opportunities to the great alumni network and ease of connecting with others, Union is the perfect place for me. As an international student, I find myself in a great position at Union to learn about the culture and gain mastery from the masters themselves – professors and leaders at Union!

What has been your favorite class assignment at Union?
Teaching mathematics to students at the Oxford Day Academy (remotely from Pakistan) as part of Oxford Tutorial Method course in Fall 2020.

What is your favorite place off-campus in Schenectady?
Boulevard Bowl for quick bowling with friends and Storied Coffee for the banana-flavored bubble teas!
