I graduated from Union in 2015 and was back here less than a year later, getting the word out to other young people about what a great place this is to live and learn. My assignments take me to prospective students in Eastern Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York City, North Dakota, Rhode Island and South Dakota.
As an undergraduate, I became familiar with the fine arts through a Union friend. She was taking the intro photography class and used a film camera. We went on crazy expeditions to capture the “perfect photo.” I was mostly interested in the fact that it was a film camera. She introduced me to the darkroom. I loved it so much that I enrolled, and it took off from there. I still take photos for fun.
I have a lot of other interests, including music, books and outdoors activities, like longboarding and boating. My favorite musicians are Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, Phoenix, Queen, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Fall out Boy, Gavin Degraw, Dragonforce and Vampire Weekend. My favorite superhero is Spider-Man. My favorite book is Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. It’s a fantasy novel written by the English authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. My go-to spot in Schenectady is Mohawk River Park, and best place to eat is Tara Kitchen, authentic Moroccan cuisine.
