At Union, I felt an immediate sense of community. It is a very welcoming and inclusive campus, and I have had a wonderful time getting to know a cross-section of students, faculty and staff. The physical beauty of campus also can’t be overstated. In particular, Jackson’s Garden is such a lovely, quiet space. I often take a walk through it or have my lunch there during the nice weather.
When I’m not working, I enjoy exercising, watching football and baseball, and hiking in the Adirondacks with my family. I also love singing and all things musical theater. My favorite book is “She’s Come Undone” by Wally Lamb. I first read it while in college and have since read it several times. Each time I gain something new from it. My favorite movie is “Rudy,” which follows the story of Rudy Ruettiger, a walk-on football player for the University of Notre Dame who faces many obstacles. I have watched it dozens of times and always tear up during the final scene. I enjoy listening to a lot of different types of music, but my favorites are James Taylor, Ray Lamontagne, Counting Crows and Pearl Jam.
In Schenectady, I enjoy so many restaurants. I especially like grabbing a bite to eat at Aperitivo Bistro before heading to Proctors Theatre to see a show. Dinner and a show just blocks from campus – it doesn’t get much better.
