Why I chose Union

As a future physician, I knew that I would need a solid academic foundation in the sciences. However, to be a good doctor requires a much broader skill set. Proper communication is essential for correct diagnosis and treatment, and to prevent errors. Exchange of ideas, increasingly taking place over great distances or via social media, demands excellent written and verbal abilities. Understanding the patient as a whole person, rather than just a list of symptoms, will allow me to deliver treatment with greater empathy and compassion. Union's integration of a strong liberal arts education, which encourages self-expression and the pursuit of knowledge, with a demanding science curriculum, allows me to achieve these goals.
