I joined Union in the summer of 2016, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the team. Union has a vibrant and growing international community that is an integral part of the campus community. I love talking with prospective international students about their culture and their dreams and goals for the future. Often students are nervous about attending college in the U.S. and it puts them at ease when they discover our very supportive and welcoming community. The commitment Union has to its international students is noteworthy. As students quickly discover, we all can learn a lot from each other – whether from Kabul or Quito, Seoul or Schenectady.
When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, running, cooking, traveling, yoga, snowshoeing and chasing my kids. I don’t watch TV. I do love movies though, including, anything with Audrey Hepburn or Fred Astaire (really most things in black and white), You’ve Got Mail, all the James Bond AND Harry Potter movies (but I love the books more). I’m an avid reader. Favorite books? There are so many… Short stories: Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. Series: Philip Pullman’s trilogy of The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass as well as Harry Potter. Biography: Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire by Amanda Foreman, and Crooked Cucumber: The Life and Teaching of Shunryu Suzuki by David Chadwick. Fiction: Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, Jeanette Winterson’s Written on the Body, and all of Jane Austen.
