Forensic Accountant/Auditor, NYS Office of the Attorney General, Division of Criminal Justice, New York, NY

The Division of Criminal Justice in The New York State Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) is seeking a forensic accountant/auditor for the New York City office. The forensic accountant/auditor supports the division by working in partnership with its attorneys, investigators and legal support analysts to investigate actions involving, but not limited to, taxpayer fraud, organized crime, securities fraud, public integrity, internet crimes and environmental criminal acts, utilizing the NYS False Claims Act, the Executive Law, the Martin Act and other federal and state laws.  Many of the actions involve coordination with other state and federal civil and prosecutorial anti-fraud agencies, and have resulted in large-scale recoveries on behalf of the state of New York.  A forensic accountant/auditor is needed to participate in these complex fraud investigations and, when appropriate, to support prosecution of crimes uncovered by such investigations. 

Candidates for the position of forensic accountant/auditor must possess excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and a minimum of a four (4) year college degree, either specifically in finance, accounting, or economics, or equivalent post-college work experience. Applicants should be proficient with database and presentation software.  Experience with statistical sampling is a plus.  A CPA is not required; the position qualifies for CPA accreditation purposes.  Designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner is also a plus. Applicants will be considered for both entry-level and experienced assignments.
