Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering Department

Outreach Programs

The ECBE Department has offered two summer outreach programs for middle and high school students to explore engineering in the past.

The EdGE Workshop is a 2-week long summer residential experience available to girls who are entering their junior or senior year in high school and who are interested in exploring what engineering is all about. This high-impact program is project oriented, and students are led through the engineering design process as they design toys for children with special needs. There are many other program features, from visits to local engineering companies to a dinner out with local female engineers.

Robot Camp is a week-long day camp taught by Union faculty to introduce middle and high school students to the exciting world of robots. Students design and program their own robot to achieve lots of interesting behaviors such as drawing a picture, traversing a maze, and dancing.

Unfortunately, neither the EdGE Workshop nor Robot Camp will be offered in Summer 2023. We hope to offer them again in Summer 2024.
