Gates Cambridge Scholarship

Sponsor: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Cambridge University

Purpose: Gates Cambridge Scholarships enables outstanding graduate students from outside the United Kingdom to study at the University of Cambridge. The aim of the Gates Cambridge programme is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

Opportunity: Full coverage of costs of attending Cambridge University for a graduate degree.

Selection Criteria:

  • outstanding intellectual ability
  • leadership potential
  • a commitment to improving the lives of others
  • a good fit between the applicant’s qualifications and aspirations and the postgraduate programme at Cambridge for which they are applying

Citizenship Requirements: a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom

Additional Requirements: applying to pursue a full-time residential course of study at the University of Cambridge; under 30 years old

Minimum GPA: none officially but a 3.700 is generally required to be accepted into Cambridge, a required part of the application

Class year: Senior or Alum

Subject Restrictions: None

National deadline:  mid-October

Campus deadline: mid-September

Nomination/Institutional Endorsement Required?: No

Additional Information: Student must complete the full application to Cambridge along with the scholarship application. Only students admitted to Cambridge will then be considered for the scholarship.
