A Conversation with David Harris

1:00 - 2:00 p.m. | Nott Memorial

An opportunity to learn more about President Harris. Audience members, in person and online, will be invited to ask questions of our new president.

Student Club Expo

4:00 - 7:00 p.m. | Rugby Field

Union’s 100+ student-run clubs and organizations will showcase the many opportunities for students to get involved in the campus community. Check out the club tables under the tent or watch a performance by one of Union’s dance and a cappella groups, with music provided by WRUC, the college radio station. Don’t forget to stop by one of the many food stations to sample Union Hospitality’s creations, featuring American street foods! This event is family-friendly and open to all students and guests of the college.

Inauguration Ceremony

1:00 - 2:30 p.m. | Hull Plaza (in front of the library)

The faculty, staff and students of Union College ask that you join us for the official installation ceremony of our 19th president, David R. Harris. The ceremony will begin with a procession of Union College faculty and trustees joined by delegates from other higher education institutions. The ceremony will include music and performances from several Union College groups. Friends, family, and former colleagues of President Harris will help introduce our new president to the community.

2:45 - 3:45 p.m. | Nott Memorial

Following immediately after the Inauguration Ceremony guests are invited to the Nott Memorial to meet President Harris and offer a brief word of congratulations.

Garden Gala

5:30 - 8:00 p.m. | Jackson’s Garden

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Jackson’s Garden, the Union College community will celebrate the installation of its 19th president. Guests will enjoy a delicious array of international foods and beverages while being entertained by a variety of musical performances. Attire is “garden party.” All are welcome.

Dessert Reception

8:00 - 9:00 p.m. | Hull Plaza (in front of the library)

Guests are invited to convene on the plaza in front of the Schaffer Library for music and a selection of desserts.


9:00 p.m. | Rugby Field

Union College will cap off the celebration of the inauguration of its 19th president with an exciting fireworks display over the campus’s main quad area with the Nott Memorial serving as a dramatic backdrop.

Bike ride with President Harris

Join President Harris and members of the Union College and Schenectady community for a fun ride on the beautiful and historic Mohawk - Hudson Bike Trail. (Weather permitting)
