As the Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion, Christa oversees the Office of Intercultural Affairs and Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. Christa believes in the importance of engaging in dialogues and courageous conversations in the work of social justice and inclusion. She is a trained professional for the IGR (Intergroup Relations) program. Christa actively engages, connects and challenges our students, faculty and staff to be change agents through purposeful educational experiences that promote respect, inclusion and cross-cultural understanding. Her research areas include the experience and the sense of belonging of BIPOC students as well as campus climate at predominantly white institutions (PWI) through critical race theory (CRT).
Joining the Union College family in the fall of 2019, Christa received a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master’s degree in College Student Services Administration from The College of Saint Rose, and is currently a doctoral student at Northeastern University. Before coming to Union, Christa worked at Siena College for 11 years and has served in multiple roles including Residence Director and the Director of the Damietta Cross-Cultural Center.
