Donna Burton is a reference librarian with a specialty in U.S. Government Documents. Union has been a depository for federal publications since 1901, although Donna didn't take responsibility for them until starting at Union in 1985. She's a 1974 graduate of SUNY Albany with a Bachelor's in Geography and received her M.L.S. in 1975 from SUNY Albany's School of Library and Information Science where she took her documents course with the professor who "wrote the book" on U.S. Government Publications.

Previous employment included 5 years in reference and documents at Troy Public Library (also a depository), a year's temporary library position at SUNY Cobleskill in her home town, and 3 years out of the field working for the magazine and registry office of the American Morgan Horse Association in Westmoreland, NY.

A Schenectady resident for nearly 30 years, she enjoys theater-going (Capital Rep and Proctor's), loves to read and collect books, baskets and pottery, and DVD movies in all genres. She loves animals and is currently happily owned by one tortoiseshell cat.
