Maritza Osuna, Senior Lecturer of Spanish
In a search for deepening students’ understandings and making this knowledge “visible” beyond the classroom walls, Maritza integrated Pathbrite and Sway into her language classes. Both apps allow students to think creatively as they prepare reports, presentations, learning portfolios, personal stories, memories, and more on attractive and dynamic ways. By using different modalities such as writing, speaking, and illustrating, students can better capture the essence of a novel or personal story and thus strengthen freshly acquired understandings. These, in turn, can be shared with others to view in all devices.
Carol Weisse, Professor of Psychology,
Director of Health Professions
So frequently we encourage our students to broaden their perspectives by taking classes with students who have different interests and who are pursuing different academic disciplines, but how often do we, as faculty, share our ideas and questions about our own research with scholars from different disciplines here in our own academic community? We want our students to ask questions and share when they don’t understand something, but how comfortable are we as faculty doing this with one another? How often do we get a chance to present our scholarship and share with the audience “Help-I don’t know where heck to go from here”?!!!
