In China, single women are under immense pressure to marry young or face the stigma that comes with being "leftover." "Leftover Women" follows three hopeful singles seeking to define love on their own terms. After the screening, attendees are invited to participate in a discussion about the documentary with our faculty panel: Joyce Madancy (Asian Studies/History), Megan Ferry (Asian Studies/Modern Languages & Literatures), and Erika Nelson Mukherjee (Gender, Sexuality & Women's Studies/Modern Languages & Literatures). Refreshments will be served at 5 p.m. in the Karp Social Lounge. The program is co-sponsored by President's Commission on the Status of Women; Asian Studies; Gender, Sexuality & Women's Studies; and the Minerva Program.
