Morgan Clark ’17 Wins Award of Excellence at Accelerator Conference

Senior Morgan Clark won an award of excellence for her presentation on “Ion-Beam Analysis of Artificial Turf” at the Conference on Applications of Accelerators in Research and Industry (CAARI 2016). There were 74 student posters at the conference and Morgan was one of five students to win!

Morgan, Scott LaBrake (Senior Lecturer in Physics), and Michael Vineyard (Frank and Marie Louise Bailey Professor of Physics) attended the conference in Fort Worth, TX, on Oct. 30 – Nov. 4 to present recent research in the Union College Ion-Beam Analysis Laboratory. Morgan was awarded a competitive CAARI travel grant to attend the conference. Scott LaBrake organized and chaired the session titled “Educational Experiments and Techniques.” Michael Vineyard gave an invited talk titled “Undergraduate Research and Training in Ion-Beam Analysis of Environmental Materials.” Sajju Chalise (’19), Morgan Clark, Scott LaBrake, Drew McCalmont (’16), Brendan McGuire (’18), Iseinie Mendez (’17), John Twilley (Adjunct Professor at Stony Brook), Heather Watson (Assistant Professor of Physics), and Josh Yoskowitz (’16) were co-authors on the paper.
