Co-valedictorians Molly Maloney and Meagan Jain

Meagan S. Jain

Hometown: Wellesley, Mass.

Major: Anthropology

Minor: Biology

Activities: Safe Space co-president, Gamma Phi Beta, Admissions tour guide, Wold House secretary, research projects in the Biology and Anthropology departments

Favorite class: Anthropology of Poverty and my classes while studying abroad in Fiji

What I'll miss most: I have become close with such talented and amazing people at Union, both students and professors. It's definitely Union's unique community I'll miss most.

Advice for incoming students: College is the perfect time to explore new hobbies and passions. I would recommend getting involved right away so you have time to explore everything you want

Life after Union: Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Class of 2019

Molly A. Maloney

Hometown: Green Island, N.Y.

Major: Psychology

Activities: Supplemental Instructor, research assistant, volunteer at the Albany-Stratton VA Medical Center

Favorite class: Love and Death with Professor Josh Hart

What I'll miss most: The intellectual environment of Union. I’ve met and been challenged by so many great minds here.

Advice for incoming students: Take advantage of everything Union has to offer. Join or start clubs, go to professors’ office hours, and especially take advantage of research opportunities. It’s pretty rare to be given the opportunity and support to pursue your curiosities.

Life after Union: Taking a “gap year” before applying for a graduate degree in clinical psychology
