Two faculty members, Denis Brennan, a lecturer in the History Department, and Jeff Corbin, associate professor of biology, recently completed the New York City Marathon. Brennan also ran the marathon 34 years ago. This was Corbin’s third marathon, but first time running the New York City race.
A paper co-authored by Helen Hanson, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, was presented at the 18th International Congress of Phonetic Sciences, held in Glasgow, Scotland. The piece was titled “Feature-Cue-Based Processing of Speech: A Developmental Perspective,” in other words, using data from child speech to support a theory of the abstract representations and acoustic cues used by humans to process speech.
Lester Ko, assistant director of Institutional Research, joined nearly 400 attendees at the 42nd North East Association of Institutional Research in Burlington, Vt. This year’s conference theme focused on the fact that change permeates the world of institutional research to such an extent that the only constant seems to be change itself.
