Model UN participants

The College’s Model United Nations team recently traveled to New York City and received several distinctions for their participation in the event. 

Students participated in the work of eight UN system committees, with topics such as from nuclear non-proliferations, international development, corruption and the environment and women’s rights. 

Delegates from 7 out of the 8 committees won Outstanding Position Paper Awards, meaning that the committee chairs found their work to be in the 10 percent of submissions. Union’s overall delegation earned a Distinguished Delegation Award for their collective participation in committee work. 

Michele Angrist, professor and chair of the Political Science Department, leads the team. Model UN students include Charles Baker ’17, Victoria Carter ’19, Yu Chen ’17, Nicholas Ciufo ’17, Irving Cortes-Martinez ’19, Baguidy Elien ’17, Brittany Kenny ’16, Jake Kim ’19, Meng Li ’17, Chris Nwosu ’16, Yareli Rodriguez ’16, Alexander Spyropoulos ’17, Charlotte Stein ’17, Jessica Tordesillas ’19 and Joshua Tryon ’16.
