Art works by Visual Arts faculty members Chris Duncan and Laini Nemett are on view through May 21 in “Assembled” at Collar Works, a non-profit art space in Troy. The opening reception is set for 5-8 p.m. this evening. Duncan is the May I. Baker Professor of Visual Arts, and Nemett is assistant professor of Visual Arts. The exhibit was organized by Fernando Orellana, associate professor of Visual Arts. 

Rudy Nydegger, professor emeritus, was recently elected as a distinguished fellow to the Psychology Academy of the National Academies of Practice. The group gives opinions and advice to government officials on health care policies and legislation. 

Donald Rodbell, professor and chair of the Geology department, was a guest on WAMC’s “Vox Pop.” Listen to his discussion of climate change here

Professor Carol Weisse, director of Health Professions, and Rhona Beaton, assistant director of Health Professions, presented at the National Campus Compact Convention in Boston. Their talk was titled, “Developing Community-Based Learning Opportunities that Foster Professional Identify Formation in Students Interested in Medicine.”  At the same conference, Weisse also presented “Engaging Students in End of Life Care: Cultivating a Community of Compassionate Caregivers,” which provided an overview of a newly developed Community Action, Research and Education (CARE) program. 

Rajashree Mazumder, assistant professor of history, presented a paper, “Re-interpreting Anglo-Indian Law in Colonial Burma,” as part of a panel. She organized “Legal Regimes and Courtroom Drama" at the Association for Asian Studies Annual Conference in Seattle.
