A talk by Professor Stephen Berk about the presidential race will be held Monday, April 18 at 5 p.m. in the Nott Memorial.

“Berk on the 2016 Election” will be followed by a reception sponsored by Union College Hillel and Robert Linder ’83, father of Rachel Linder ’19.

The event is free and open to the public.

Berk is the Henry and Sally Schaffer Professor of Holocaust and Jewish Studies. A native of Brooklyn, he attended James Madison High School in Midwood in the late 1950s along with Democratic contender and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Both men were on the track team at the same time.

Sanders is competing against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of New York in the Democratic primary. The Republican contenders are Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and New York businessman Donald Trump.

"We thought it was only fitting to have Professor Berk speak on the election," said Ariella Honig ’17, Hillel co-president. “His knowledge of world events and politics, in addition to his thought-provoking manner, will enlighten us before Tuesday's primary."

The New York State primary elections will be held Tuesday.
