Union sent 20 students to the 30th annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research at the University of North Carolina, Asheville. The students’ majors crossed all academic divisions, and each shared their research projects with conference attendees through oral or poster presentations. 

Participating students (with majors) include: Ryan Asselin '16 (mechanical engineering); Pierre Castro '16 (economics and math); Marian Chee '16 (mechanical engineering); Kyra DeTone '16 (art history; and gender, sexuality, and women’s studies); Trishala Jailall '16 (biology); Rebecca Krasa '16 (biology); Mackenzie LaPorte '16 (biology/psychology); Katherine Pouliot '16 (biology/psychology); William Prescott '16 (mechanical engineering); Henry Schreck '16 (political science and classics); Molly Sperduti-Matesevac '16 (mechanical engineering); Nealay Vasavda '16 (anthropology and political science); Kenneth White '16 (political science and economics); Olivia Williamson '16 (biology); Sharmeen Azher '17 (biology/anthropology); Alyssa Bonesteel '17 (political science; Russian & East European studies); Adam Forti '17 (mechanical engineering); Sydney Paluch '17 (English and political science); Allison Smith '17 (art history) and Adam Ashcroft '18 (mechanical engineering). 

Becky Cortez, director of undergraduate research, accompanied the students to this year’s conference. NCUR student participants present research and creative works across all disciplines and represent colleges and universities throughout the U.S. Union has hosted the NCUR conference twice.
