Three Army Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets have been commissioned as second lieutenants following completion of a Mohawk Battalion ROTC program hosted at Siena College.

Thomas Glading ’16, Stephen Hoeprich ’16 and Kate Kozain ’16 were among a dozen ROTC cadets honored during a ceremony at Siena Saturday. They joined cadets from Siena, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University at Albany who were commissioned into the Active Duty Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard.

The cadets completed four years of leadership training and specialized coursework including classes in military science, leadership and management.

Thomas Glading

Hometown: Waccabuc, N.Y.

Major: Political science

Plans after graduation: Active duty infantry officer stationed at Fort Stewart, Ga.

Stephen Hoeprich

Hometown: Amsterdam, N.Y.

Major: Electrical engineering

Plans after graduation: Platoon leader in N.Y. Army National Guard. Also pursuing a civilian job in the defense industry


Kate Kozain

Hometown: New London, N.H.

Major: Neuroscience

Plans after graduation: Active duty Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Army, stationed at the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum.

Union also has three first-year students enrolled in the Army ROTC program: Erin Besch ‘19, Colin Murphy ’19 and Daniel Brack ’19.
