Students honored with Gilman Scholarships

Several Union College students have been the recipients of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. 

Gilman scholars receive up to $5,000 to apply towards their study abroad or internship program costs. The program aims to diversify the students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go. This year, over 850 American undergraduate students were chosen from 324 colleges and universities. 

Spring 2016 winners (with majors and terms abroad):

Aubrey Griffin ’17 – anthropology and political science major – Cambodia

Anna Ko ’17 – neuroscience major – Italy

Fall 2015 winners (with majors and terms abroad):

Bianca Mielke ’18 – electrical engineering major – Czech Republic

Taina Orellana ’18 – economics major – China

Katherine Sotolongo ’18 – psychology major – Argentina

Emily Sullivan ’18 – Spanish and Hispanic Studies and political science double major – Argentina

Emma Will ’18 – bioengineering major – Czech Republic

Jimmy Yun ’17 – economics – China
