Visiting Phi Beta Kappa scholar to give lecture


George Dyson

Technological historian George Dyson, a Phi Beta Kappa scholar visiting Union, will speak 5 p.m. Thursday, March 8 in the Nott Memorial.

His talk is titled “Artificial Intelligence: From Analog to Digital and Back.” The lecture is free and open to the public. After the lecture, Wold House will host a Dinner and Discussion event with Dyson, which is open to all members of the Union community. Reservations can be made by contacting Peter Bedford at bedfordp@union.edu.

Earlier Thursday, Dyson will also speak at the History Department’s History for U Speaker Series. His talk is titled “The First Five Kilobytes are the Hardest: A Creation Myth.”

Dyson’s visit is supported by Phi Beta Kappa, Union’s chapter of PBK, the Computer Science and History departments and the Science, Medicine and Technology in Culture program.
