Thank you for being diligent in adhering to our COVID-19 safety protocols during the past year. Looking forward to the fall term, we have required that all students be vaccinated against COVID by July 1. On Monday, June 21 we announced a similar requirement for faculty and staff.
By August 15, all faculty and staff, including temporary employees, are required to be fully vaccinated. If you have not already been vaccinated, please schedule your vaccine.
Employees must upload a copy of their vaccination card to emocha and record the date(s) of their vaccination(s) (if they have not done so already) also no later than August 15. Please review the new mandatory vaccination policy.
Newly hired employees will be given a thirty-day grace period after their verbal offer to receive their vaccination(s).
We recognize that some faculty and staff may not be able to receive the vaccine for approved medical or religious reasons. Employees who would like to request an exemption must complete the following accommodation request forms and submit them to Human Resources by emailing them to email@example.com no later than July 31.
Employees who are not approved for a medical or religious accommodation and who are not vaccinated prior to August 15 will be subject to disciplinary action as follows:
- Staff will be placed on unpaid leave for 30 days. If by the end of the 30 days the staff member is still not vaccinated, their employment will be terminated.
- Faculty will be subject to disciplinary action and sanctions up to and including termination based upon the guidelines set forth in section II.IX (Procedures for Dismissal and Sanctions) of the Faculty Manual.
Requiring vaccinations will help keep our entire Union community and surrounding communities safe and healthy.
