COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Updates and Testing Protocol Reminder

Publication Date

Dear Union College Community:

We hope the first two weeks of the spring term are treating you well. The increased activity around campus has been a welcome sight and we’re all looking forward to a closer-to-normal term this spring.

We also are pleased to report that we have seen relatively few new cases of COVID-19 since the start of the term. The latest data on cases can be found on our COVID-19 dashboard.

As a reminder, we will be moving forward with our transition to voluntary, asymptomatic COVID-19 testing starting next week. Testing will be available for all faculty, staff and students each Tuesday and Wednesday for the remainder of the term from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Hale House only (please note: You will no longer enter via Old Chapel to test. Please enter and exit the testing center through the Hale House doorways).

This testing is intended only for those who do not have COVID-19 symptoms. Students who are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should visit Wicker Wellness Center weekdays for an evaluation and possible testing, or take a rapid test or visit an off-campus health care provider on nights and weekends.

Employees with symptoms should not come to campus. They should get tested off campus with a rapid test, at a pharmacy, or through their medical provider. Employees should continue to report positive off-campus test results to Gwen Pulvirent in Human Resources at

As a reminder, our isolation protocols for those who test positive for COVID-19 have not changed. COVID-19 positive students must isolate off campus for five days and wear a mask around others at all times for another five days after the end of isolation. Similarly, employees should isolate at home for five days and then wear a mask at all times for another five days after their return to campus.

The latest details on the College’s COVID-19 protocols can be found on our COVID-19 Updates web page.

Thanks to everyone for their continued commitment to the health of our community and best wishes for a great spring term.
