Meet the Minerva Mentors

Jack Bragg

Jack Bragg

Hometown:Ridgewood, NJ

Career Interest: I'm on the pre-med track.  Ideally in the future I hope to work in the field of sports medicine as an orthopedic surgeon.  

Major/Minor: I am a Biochemistry major.  

Activities: On campus I am involved in my Minerva house council, a member of the ski club, a member of Habitat for Humanity, a member of the men’s crew team, and also a tour guide. 

Personal: Outside of campus I essentially enjoy anything having to do with outdoor activities, whether it is hiking, skiing, surfing, biking, swimming, or whatever other activity you can think of.  I am also an avid Boston sports fan.

Hometown: Lynbrook, NY

Major/Minor: I’m a Math major with minors in Psychology and Jewish Studies, but don’t ask me how I came up with that combination, I couldn’t tell you!

Career Interests: At this point, I’m not sure, but graduate school is likely in the picture. Activities: I’m the secretary for the Beuth House council, a Union College tour guide, a part of Bhangra Union, a member of the Union Hillel, and a Scholar.

Personal: I am one of the biggest American football fans on this campus. (I support the New York Jets, so it’s a little tough.) I also love spending time outside to take a break from my schoolwork.

Personal:When I'm not working/running, I love to lay outside with a good book and a nice cup of chai tea. My new favorite spot has been the porch swing at Wells House.

Class Year: 2019

Major: Neuroscience

Hometown: West Chester, PA

Career Interests: Hopefully get my masters and PhD in a specific field of neuroscience and then do research on brain cancer or mental disorders.

Activities: I am a Tour Guide, on the Executive Board of Women's Union, Cocoa House, and Hip Hop Club. I play in the Orchestra and I am a member of the Scholar's program. On any given Saturday I'll probably be volunteering somewhere off campus. I'm also in the ski & snowboard club (I couldn't decide which one I liked better so I do both!)

Personal: Music has always played a huge role in my life, whether it was dancing, acting, playing an instrument, or singing in the shower! I love that I can continue that at Union. Also my favorite food is anything chocolate!  I'm really interested in having fresh honey on campus so I help with beekeeping (hmu if you want some honey).

Hometown: Rochester, NY

Major/Minor: Mechanical Engineering; Math and German double minor

Career Interests:I want to be an Engineer someday but beyond that I am not sure!

Activities: On campus, I am a member of the Varsity Swim Team, Campus Relations Chair of Gamma Phi Beta, and Vice President of the German Club. 

Personal: In the winter I love skiing and being outside in the snow, and when its warm my favorite thing to do is lay outside in Jackson's Gardens. I cannot get enough of Parks and Rec and I find food documentaries on Netflix very relaxing.

Major/Minor: Biology/Psychology ID Major

Career InterestsI am an aspiring Physician, and currently interested in the field of Pediatric Oncology

Activities: I am a Tour Guide on campus, involved in a volunteer organization known as Project Sunshine, remain active on the Wold House Minerva Council, and assist in clinical research in

Pediatric Oncology at Albany Medical Center.

Personal: I enjoy hanging out with friends and meeting new people! If you ever see me around campus, don’t hesitate to say hi! I also enjoy reading, listening to music, going to the gym, and generally staying pleasantly busy.

Tips for Success: Take each day one step at a time. Sometimes, it’s easy to become stressed over future assignments and obligations. Remember to take a deep breath, and live in the moment.

Class year: 2017

Home: West Islip, NY

Major/Minor: Chemistry (A.C.S. Environmental Chemistry) Major, Environmental Science and Policy Minor

Career Interests:At this point I want to go to graduate school for Environmental Engineering with a focus on Environmental Chemistry! I don’t know exactly what job I want but I definitely want to do research with my degree. Maybe I’ll work in academia or end up working for the government!

Activities: I’m a member of the Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field teams here at Union. I’m also a tour guide, Co-President of the Scholar’s Steering Committee, President of the Chemistry Club and Co-President of Colleges Against Cancer. I’ve also been conducting research in the Chemistry department since my sophomore year!

Personal: I generally enjoy any activity that has me outside and active. I love to run,hike, swim, etc. I love to travel and went on a term abroad to Vietnam my Junior year, which was by far one of the coolest things I’ve ever done! I also love taking Nott Shots, so if there’s an awesome sunset on campus, you can probably find me snapping a pic of it behind the Nott!

Tip for Success: Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Whether that be joining a certain club, taking a certain class or just trying out something new. You never know what you will like or not till you try it out!
