Assistant Athletic Director Media Relations/Sports Info. Dir.

The University at Albany is searching for a highly qualified applicant to fill the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Media Relations/Sports Information Director (S.I.D.).  The duties include, but are not limited to, overall supervision of all sports information/media related contests and events; sports information for high profile sports including Division I football, basketball, and lacrosse; writing, editing and publication design and coordination; generating the publicity and promotion of the University's 18 intercollegiate sports; digital communication coordination; and staff supervision. UAlbany is a NCAA Division I institution that competes in the America East Conference.  Football is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association and Women's Golf MAAC.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Dept. of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field
  • A minimum of three years experience in a Division I athletic media relations office and/or 5 years experience at a news publication or broadcast company
  • Supervision experience
  • Strong organizational and writing skills with expertise and demonstrated ability of Web site design, computers, statistical software packages, desktop publishing (PageMaker 6.5 and Adobe InDesign), image acquisition and editing (Photoshop)
  • Competence with social media applications including Twitter, Facebook and others on the technology horizon
  • Stat Crew game experience
  • Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with culturally diverse populations. 
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Dept. of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field
  • Stat Crew game experience, especially in the sports of football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball and volleyball
  • Management experience
