BPAS Actuarial and Pension Services seeks candidates for the position of Analyst in our Syracuse Office. We are the largest employer of consulting actuaries in Upstate New York and have steadily grown our business since our inception in 2003. We consult with executives at more than 800 companies, not-for profit institutions and government agencies across the country ranging in size from 1 to 20,000 employees.

Our Analysts work with senior actuaries on a variety of different projects, including;

  • Calculating the cost and funding requirements of employee benefit security programs such as pension plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation programs.
  • Helping our clients manage the risk associated with these benefit programs.
  • Assisting with the re-design of employee benefit programs by analyzing the costs and benefits associated with different options.
  • Pricing and IBNR reserving for self insured group health insurance plans.
  • Statistical projections of cash flow and benefit plan liabilities.
  • Compiling of statutory government filings.
  • Quantifying the impact of changes in actuarial assumptions and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with special projects where necessary.

Successful candidates will exhibit the following qualities;

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree upon graduation from an accredited College or University no later than June 1, 2018 with a major in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or Economics
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 overall or 3.5 in Major
  • Preferred: Successful completion of at least one exam sponsored by the Society of Actuaries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with acute attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple projects
  • Participation in appropriate extracurricular activities

Starting salary and sign-on bonus will be competitive to market, and be adjusted for successful completion of actuarial examinations. BPAS provides a competitive benefits package, including;
