ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:  The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters is a statewide environmental advocacy organization that works to make the protection of Connecticut’s environment a political priority.  Since 1998, CTLCV has worked with Connecticut’s environmental leaders to advance a comprehensive environmental agenda at the State Legislature and holds the state’s elected officials accountable through voter education, lobbying, and supporting legislators committed to strong conservation policies.  The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, CTLCV’s affiliated 501c3 organization, works to educate the public and involve citizens in the policy-making process.  Information about both organizations is at www.ctlcv.org and www.conservationeducation.org.

 

JOB SUMMARY:  This is a full-time position that reports to the Executive Director.  The primary administrative responsibilities are to handle the daily in-house needs of the office, with a significant focus on our data and communications systems, and to assist the Executive Director (or the relevant staff) with specific projects and larger programs as needed.   The position will require communication with a variety of our constituencies in person, by phone, email, mail, and social media networks.  This job is for a tech savvy, fast learner with strong administration skills, and who also wants to be involved in the organization’s mission and programs to protect the environment.

Qualifications:

SKILLS REQUIRED:

*Highly competent with computers and online technologies. Ability to quickly learn software programs (including EveryAction, NGP VAN, Weebly website builder).  Manage and help shape our new communications database with skill, organization and speed.

*Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to write clearly and concisely in the style and tone of the organization.

*Extremely organized and detail-oriented with a talent for multi-tasking. Ability to respond quickly to daily needs of the organization.

*A desire to learn the organization’s overall approach, to become familiar with the key issues and  our environmental partners, and is comfortable in a political environment

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Office with small staff on the Hartford/West Hartford border. The job is fast paced and requires juggling multiple projects and deadlines.  Job requires occasional work outside of normal hours and ability to travel within Connecticut.  No two days will be alike and there is much opportunity to help shape new programs.  Starting pay $20/hr. depending on skills and experience.  Hours negotiable.  CTLCV is an equal opportunity employer.
