Position Summary and Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Reunions and Class Programs, the Associate/Assistant Director of Alumnae/i Engagement is responsible for developing programs and activities that serve and engage alumnae/i, with a particular focus on those who have graduated from the college within the past ten years. This individual will work closely with class volunteers of all ages to support their planning efforts for reunions and mini-reunions while advancing the mission of the college. He or she will also facilitate the transition of students into engaged alumnae/i through programs designed to foster continued relationships with Vassar, identifying and maximizing opportunities to connect students and alumnae/i. The Associate/Assistant Director will assist in establishing department goals, collaborate with colleagues in administrative offices across campus, and help to run the day-to-day operations for the Office of Alumnae/i Engagement. 

  • Establishes goals for young alumnae/i and student engagement in partnership with the Office of Alumnae/i Affairs and Development (OAAD) staff. Develops, manages and implements alumnae/i programs and plans events specifically geared for graduates of the past 10 years. 
  • Monitors and evaluates outcomes of young alumnae/i engagement efforts to determine if overall goals are met. 
  • Manages class volunteer initiatives and plans the annual reunion volunteer weekend each fall. 
  • Assists the Director of Reunions and Class Programs in planning and executing annual events such as Sons and Daughters, Founders' Day, the Senior Reception, and Reunion. 
  • Creates life stage appropriate events for graduating seniors and alumnae/i. 
  • Develops relationships with members of the Vassar Student Association (VSA) and other active student groups. Collaborates with the department on developing strategic communications for young alumnae/i and students which include, but are not limited to, electronic, print, website, and social media. 
  • Partners with the Vassar Fund to support efforts to enhance student philanthropy.


Qualifications Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Three to five years of progressively responsible and related experience (e.g. alumnae/i relations, development, fundraising, marketing, sales, volunteer management, etc.) required. Requires enthusiasm and a strong commitment to the core values of a liberal arts education. Must have the ability to interact effectively with alumnae/i from diverse age groups and ethnic/cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, communication, and program planning skills. Strong customer-service orientation is necessary. Must be able to work effectively and flexibly in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; familiarity with Banner and iModules preferred. Facility with social media platforms desired. Willingness and ability to travel for the College and to work nights and on weekends is essential.
