Job Summary

Grinnell College seeks applications and nominations for an Assistant Dean and Director of Employer Engagement. This new leadership role is a key element in the 2020 Strategic Vision of the burgeoning Center for Careers, Life, and Service (CLS). The new assistant dean and director will have strategic, program, and budgetary oversight of all employer engagement and campus recruiting efforts within the CLS. As both a visionary and entrepreneur, the assistant dean and director will establish a global recruiting network of key alumni, parents, and friends of the College to increase the volume, caliber, and diversity of internship and full-time professional opportunities for Grinnell students. Reporting directly to the Daniel and Patricia Jipp Finkelman Dean, the Assistant Dean and Director of Employer Engagement will join the CLS’s senior leadership team and will lead, supervise, and work alongside a group of talented, creative, and motivated colleagues.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates will have knowledge of and experience with talent-acquisition practices and strategies for internships and full-time professional positions. Experience building and sustaining employer engagement programs within a higher education setting is highly desired. The candidate will also have experience with career- and recruitment-management software (e.g., Symplicity). Additionally, qualified candidates will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills (including the ability to deliver creative and persuasive presentations), strong budget and project management abilities, and experience with building relationships with diverse stakeholders. The successful candidate will adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in sensitive matters related to hiring decisions.
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree along with at least five years of related experience in career development, human resources (generalist), talent acquisition, or a similar field. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a master’s degree in human resources, student personnel, workforce development, or a related field.
