Assistant Director Graphic Arts & Social Media

The University at Albany is searching for a highly qualified applicant to fill the role as Assistant Director Graphic Arts & Social Media. Primary responsibilities include: digital communication coordination and content creation for generating publicity and promotion of UAlbany's 18 intercollegiate sports. Additional responsibilities also include: collaborating with members of the Athletic Administration, Athletic Communications and Athletics Marketing departments on content and scheduling of messaging; conducting research to support content strategies; tracking metrics for social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, etc.; posting content to aforementioned social spaces; helping facilitate in-game social initiatives; and other duties as assigned. UAlbany is a NCAA Division I institution that competes in the America East Conference; Football is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association and Women's Golf MAAC.


Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Art, or a related field
  • The candidate should be a creative and motivated individual eager for hands-on experience in the area of digital and social media.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as a proficiency in graphic design, recording and editing video
  • Self-starters who are active in social media and other digital spaces themselves are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants should have a basic knowledge of digital media tools, platforms and emerging technology.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Video production software including but not limited to: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Final Cut Pro X along with knowledge of digital and DSLR camera equipment
  • Current and creative graphic trends and techniques to the sports design industry and to engage with fans
  • Weekend and night work will be required
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated professional experience with managing written and visual content for a variety of platforms.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as content management experience.
  • Must have outstanding work ethic and strict attention to detail
  • Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with culturally diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations
  • Creativity and strong passion for sports
