The Assistant Director of Assessment and Coordinator of Survey Research supports institutional assessment/effectiveness activities across academic and administrative support units, with particular emphasis on assessments within academic units. The Assistant Director is also expected to contribute to fulfilling the campus's obligations with regards to required external reporting, particularly with respect to accreditation and assessment issues. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Assistant Director will contribute to developing a longer-term broad assessment agenda of the office, and UAlbany's Institutional Assessment Plan. With regard to the survey research responsibilities, the incumbent is responsible for stewardship of the office's survey research program in support of myriad University efforts targeted at improving effectiveness and campus decision-making. The survey research coordinator will develop and administer a comprehensive and longitudinal student survey program, through appropriate internal and/or external instruments; provide timely survey research support to academic and administrative units as they pursue their assessment agendas; continue the University's efforts to further develop institutional policy regarding surveys of students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and their coordination; and become familiar with the office's major data and information systems and participate in the design and execution of analytic studies, as needed, to support planning and decision-making across the campus.

Qualifications:

-Master's degree in business, higher education, or quantitative discipline; or ABD with significant and continued progress towards degree completion from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization

-Three years' experience in a progressively responsible position in institutional research, survey research, assessment, or predictive analytics; earned Doctorate, or ABD with significant and continued progress towards degree completion from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization may substitute

-Demonstrated experience using SPSS, SAS, Stata, or other relevant statistical analysis software

-Excellent analytical and writing skills

-Ability to work with a culturally diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

-Earned Doctorate, or ABD with continuing active progress toward completion from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization

-Outstanding communication skills

-Experience using empirical evidence to support logical conclusions
