Associate Program Research Specialist

The incumbent will be responsible for providing management support and statewide coordination of legionellosis surveillance, investigation and control activities as part of the CDC-funded Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Program. Specific duties will include: overseeing legionella disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, response and control activities, data collection and analysis; and coordinating grant submission activities. Other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: 
Bachelors in public health, epidemiology, heath informatics, statistics, computer science or related field and four years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data and in the review and analysis of program areas. The experience should include determining the kinds of information needed, appropriate data sources, and collection methods necessary to make informed written recommendations. A Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in public health or epidemiology. Advanced knowledge of SAS, and experience using computer-based software packages, such as Epi Info, GIS, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, etc. Three years of experience in the collection and evaluation of public health infectious disease surveillance and control data, outbreak investigation techniques or working with local health department communicable disease control programs to coordinate data collection, evaluation, analysis, and generation of written reports and recommendations. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; ability to attend to details; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
