Campus as Lab Manager

Position Summary
At Princeton, a "Campus as Living Lab" approach is defined as the campus-based intersection of operational, educational and research activities that result in the advancement of sustainability problem-solving. The Campus as Lab (CAL) Manager reports to the Director of the Office of Sustainability and works as an integral member of the Office team, and as a member of the broader Facilities Organization. Your primary objective is to design and implement a program that encourages and supports the Princeton campus community in testing sustainable solutions, engaging all disciplines. 

In this role you will serve as the primary operational liaison and coordinator for faculty and student research that engages campus built and natural systems, infrastructure, and processes. You will develop the 1) overall campus-as-lab coordination, student advising, and research project planning process, 2) centralized data portal program in collaboration with Facilities IT, 3) active outreach efforts to students and campus departments, and 4) management of campus baseline environmental monitoring efforts. You will work in close collaboration with Office communications efforts to develop regular reporting tools, and be technically versatile in order to engage successfully with research efforts across the natural and social sciences, and humanities. You will have the ability to analytically link campus-based operational, behavioral and environmental performance data with desired impact metrics.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
The Manager must be well organized, able to thrive in a team environment, versatile, detail-oriented and able to collaborate successfully across a broad range of disciplines and campus constituents (faculty, students, staff). They must have relevant experience in both operations and research coordination, ideally in a higher education environment. 

- A minimum of 5 years' related professional experience. 
-Advanced understanding of global systems of concern (climate, water, food, biodiversity, behavior, etc.) and ability to translate that understanding to the applied local scale. 
-Demonstrated experience conducting research or providing support within a research environment. 
-Proven project management, data management and analytical skills, ideally including rigorous valuation of environmental assets. 
-Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, publication, and translation of ideas across disciplines. 
-Demonstrated community engagement skills in a complex social environment, preferably on a college campus. 

The final candidate will be required to complete a background check successfully. 

All Facilities employees are considered essential and are expected to be available to work as directed by the department during emergencies and certain campus events 
 
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in sustainability-related field highly preferred
