The Career Development Intern works closely with Gordon Career Center advising staff to ensure prompt attention to students’ career development needs. The intern will work up to 30 hours/week when the University is in session, including some evening hours. This internship is funded through December 16, 2016, with the possibility for extension through May 12, 2017. This position is not benefits-eligible. This internship is not eligible for student loan deferment.
The intern will:
- Review resumes and other job search materials submitted by students on our web-based recruiting system, Handshake;
- Advise students in drop-in appointments to answer basic questions about their job and internship searches;
- Support the Health Professions Advisor as needed;
- Provide administrative support for career-related events sponsored by the Career Center.
Bachelor’s degree and a demonstrated interest in career and student development. Experience providing support, training, or advising in a one-on-one or group setting. Experience may be from working with students or as an intern. Availability to work some evenings as needed.
Enrollment in a master’s degree program in counseling, higher education, or a related field. Good potential for a candidate wishing to fulfill graduate degree requirements for a practicum in student advising or similar. Liberal arts bachelor’s degree, or experience working in a liberal arts environment, strongly preferred.
