College Prevention Coordinator

The College Prevention Coordinator (CPC) will work within the University at Albany's newly established Department of Behavioral Health Promotion and Applied Research and will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative operation and organization of the University at Albany's Comprehensive Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Prevention Program enhancements supported by funding from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYSOASAS). Specifically, the incumbent will assist project directors in carrying out assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation, and evaluation activities associated with the University at Albany's prevention and early intervention priorities.

The CPC will work with the University at Albany campus community coalition to develop and implement strategies that will lead to long-term engagement of community institutions, organizations, and individuals in the University at Albany's underage drinking and drug abuse prevention efforts. The incumbent will also be responsible for implementation of strategies that enhance access to Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) services delivered within the University at Albany Counseling and Psychological Services.

The CPC will be responsible for ensuring that the necessary NYSOASAS reporting requirements, including interim reports and a final report, are completed and submitted in a timely and thorough manner

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Public Health or Health Education, Administration, Policy/Planning, or in Mental Health Counseling, Community/Organizational Psychology or related field awarded from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Relevant experience in Public Health or Health Education, Administration, Policy/Planning, or in Mental Health Counseling, Community/Organizational Psychology or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, guided by an understanding of strategies supporting effective organizational intervention
  • Public relations or marketing skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Prevention's Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF)  and the NYSOASAS Prevention Framework
  • Familiarity and comfort with reporting outcomes within a web-based system
  • Applicant must address in their application their ability to work with a culturally diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in working with a university/college community
  • Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of prevention and health promotion programs in college settings
  • Expertise in organizational consultation
  • Experience in program development
  • Experience in the training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students
