Communications Specialist, Policy Research Associates (PCA)

Policy Research Associates, Inc. (PRA) is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist to support a variety of projects related to juvenile and criminal justice; services for children, adolescents, and their families; recovery supports; service members and veterans; homelessness and housing; wellness; and violence. A leader in the behavioral health and human services field for over 30 years, PRA is a small business funded by federal and state agencies, national organizations, and foundations. PRA conducts research and evaluation; provides technical assistance and training; and plans and facilitates major conferences, meetings, and other knowledge-transfer activities in the behavioral health field. 

The successful candidate will join the Communications team in the development and implementation of a broad communications strategy and have the opportunity to work across PRA projects in a variety of communications, graphic design and marketing capacities. This position reports to the VP of Operations and the incumbent will collaborate with Communications team members. Responsibilities may include:

  • Producing a variety of print, electronic, and social media communications (e.g., blogs, social media posts, infographics)
  • Website search engine optimization
  • Editing and proofreading documents; document layout
  • Developing and analyzing e-newsletter production, dissemination strategies, and performance
  • Filming and editing video and audio productions
  • Assisting with virtual meetings for PRA and associated projects

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Two years’ experience in print, electronic and social media strategy, development, and production
  • Experience in managing corporate social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products, website and electronic media development products, Adobe Creative Suite products, and virtual meeting technology
  • Experience in graphic design, using Adobe Creative Suite products, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, or online design services like Canva
  • Experience with Apple's video and audio editing platforms, iMovie, and Garage Band
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work within timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and/or significant interest in any of PRA’s substantive areas of focus a plus
