Job Description:

The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, University at Albany seeks applicants for a full professor faculty position beginning January 2017 for Chair of the Computer Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will have an established record of scholarship with demonstrated potential to influence the growth and development of a faculty in electrical and computer engineering and the electrical and computer engineering programs at the University at Albany.

We are building a research-intensive college of engineering in the tradition of the best high-caliber public programs in the country. We are developing programs and research thrusts for which we are particularly well positioned.  Electrical and computer engineering, together with our established program in computer science, are just the beginning. Programs in several other engineering disciplines are in development; the College is in an exciting period of rapid growth. From our downtown location we will engage the community, looking to inspire a more diverse generation of students to pursue careers in the engineering and applied sciences.  Our programs provide an engineering education that prepares students for careers not just in the engineering sciences, but also for careers and/or postgraduate studies in many other fields, including law, medicine, finance, management, and more.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Applicants must also have a strong record of funded research and demonstrated expertise in academic administrative and leadership skills and be committed to teaching, research, and service.
  • Applicants should demonstrate active participation in professional engineering organizations.
  • Applicants must address in their application their ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
